Many family names, Ferris, Simpson, Davenport, etc are included in the genealogy report that you can see by clicking the Herricks Genealogy button above. It's quite large and I hope you take the time to read through it
and find your generation. If there are any errors, please contact us.
Please note that this genealogy information is the best to my knowledge and from references from other books already in print.
Therefore, Generations 1 through Generation 3 are written here from my own personal life's experiences and memories, and the rest of the generations are
from books in print compiled by one of many
Herricks I have met through the lines of the internet.
So to begin, let's talk a little about the Herrick's ...
a William F Herrick had a few interesting words to say..... "my dad and grandad established Mayflower descendencies on 2 or 3 lines, most notable of which was Standish, (his daughter) Tinkham, (their daughter) Wood, then Herrick to current times (the "Salem Henerie Herrick" ) one often reads in other references"
and he goes on to say......." There is even a "Jewish" side, starting from three brothers coming into Ellis Island at the turn of the century-- Isadore,
Abraham, & the third name is illegible as it is written in the books at Ellis Island -- who are inscribed on the Island's "wall of names," William also mentions there is a Herrick Crest! Also, did you know there is a Herrick Lane?? There is also a Herrick Family Association.
Dwight Stiles Herrick's name continues for generations, with Dwight Herrick Macduff as the last as I am aware of at this time. However, we recently completed DNA testing.
This test was done to find the Macduff line, as it has been extremely difficult in finding any Macduff Ancestors.
This DNA update refers only to the Macduff's (Mcduffe) of Peekskill, New York.
Earlier, I mentioned of a Rod Macduff, who is the creator of the McDuffie Surname DNA Project of which a cheek swab was done and the results have already come in. Rod has been instrumental in
creating this project as well as updating all the results. Thank you Rod Macduff!!
The Y-Chromosome STR DNA testing has been completed by Dwight Herrick Macduff's son Douglas, and the results show that surname Macduff had changed from McDuffe to Macduff.
Our Oldest Proven Ancestor is John Robert McDuffe, Sr.. He always signed his name McDuffe on court documents in 1805 etc. If his name ever was printed as McDuffey, then it was the acts
of other people, such as Military Clerks and Court Clerks, but his signature was always McDuffe.
Third generation: Robert E. McDuffe AKA Ralph E. Macduff, b. 1845 - Robert changed his name while he was a minister in Indiana & his descendants have since used the surname Macduff.
For a brief summary and Line to Most Recent non-living participants, please visit Rod Macduff at his web page where he
details all of the DNA families and scroll down to the # VVY46H - that's V V Y 4 6 H.
