Were you here for the celebration of

THE WIZARD OF OZ

at the Peekskill Museum??

(Added January 14, 2010)
And here is our special guest star during our Wizard of Oz event:
Live interview with Evan Schwartz, author of Finding OZ.

We've added some more comments by author Evan Schwartz and introduction by John Curran and this audio follows his video below. Here we have John Curran speaking a few words on the young Baum during his PMA years, as well as
Hans Christian Anderson or Lewis Carrol as "the old boys of PMA" and on the yellow brick road in Peekskill's West Street.
(approximately 5 minutes)

Now listen how Evan Schwartz. describes each character, Baum's motivation and his personal ties with the Wizard of OZ..
(approximately 30 minutes)

The movie was presented on a television on the 2nd floor for our young audience.

Much was learned including Peekskill's connection to the real-life Yellow Brick Road. We listened to stories about how L. Frank Baum, author of the original Oz novels, attended school in Peekskill. Found out how the popular Broadway musical WICKED came to be, and enjoyed a live musical performance!!! The event featured talks by John Curran, historian at the Peekskill Museum; Evan I. Schwartz, author of the new Baum biography FINDING OZ; and Carol de Giere, author of DEFYING GRAVITY (a biography of WICKED's composer). Special guest singers then treated the audience to a Musical Oz Revue. Vocalists Carole Demas (the original "Sandy" in Grease on Broadway) and Laura Janine, (who starred as "Elphaba" in Japan), sang several songs from THE WIZARD OF OZ, THE WIZ, and WICKED. Jeffrey Lodin accompanied on piano.
